Addiction involves being abnormally dependent on something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming. The most common addictions involve alcohol, drugs, sex, eating, and gambling. The employee caught in this destructive cycle can be helped through a variety of treatment options.
Objective: Training will focus on identifying and understanding the addict, how the process impacts work and personal lives, and how to obtain help. Each addiction can be presented as a stand-alone presentation, or an overview of all addictions can be given. A separate class on dealing with adolescent substance abuse is also offered. Recommended time: 1.5 hours

Adolescents offer a unique challenge for parents. Determining what are normal behaviors versus signs of trouble will be examined as well as parenting tips and strategies on communication pitfalls, problem behaviors, and the difference between caring and caretaking. There will be time to interact and share with other parents who may be facing similar challenges.
Objective: Determine normal versus problem behavior and discuss strategies. Recommended time: 1 hour

This training will examine the difference between being assertive and being aggressive and give participants the necessary tools to be assertive. Participants will assess their current assertive skills with regard to communication and decision-making.
Objective: Participants will learn to set boundaries, face problems directly, resolve stressful situations successfully, and feel less guilty when making decisions. Recommended time: 1.5 hours

This training will help participants reflect on their beliefs and value systems about work and family and develop a plan for how to meet their expectations. Through group discussions and interactive exercises, participants will glean insight into how to make their lives well-balanced with work, family, and personal life.
Objective: Discuss the importance of work/life balance and discuss strategies to attain balance. Recommended time: 1 hour

Knowing and doing are 2 different skill sets! Applying knowledge is often harder than learning it. This program will explore neuroplasticity, growth mindset, adult learning, and ways to make training more effective (and that includes making it more fun!). There are steps that will help you DO what you KNOW.
Objective: Describe 4 techniques for more effective training and explain 3 success tips for doing something new. Recommended time: 1 hour

Boundaries, an important part of self-care and well-being, are often viewed through a narrow and negative lens. Do you see boundaries as flexible, porous, or impenetrable; keeping things in or out; intrusive and rude or necessary and kind? Recognizing and setting boundaries at home and work is a crucial, yet not always easy, skill we can develop.
Objective: Discover when and why you need boundaries as well as how to establish and enforce them. Recommended time: 1 hour

History is unfolding before our eyes. In this class, we will be discussing the challenges associated with the real-life impacts of social unrest.
Objective: Attendees will learn the range of appropriate emotional responses to demonstrations with a focus on the importance of self-care and empathy. Recommended time: 1 hour

Change is inevitable and a constant in our lives, even though it may not always be welcome. Resistance to change is to be expected as change brings uncertainty and can cause stress. The process of change and the importance of acknowledging the stages of loss commonly associated with change will be discussed.
Objective: Techniques will be covered that help us comfortably manage change, reduce stress, and develop positive coping skills. Recommended time: 1 hour

Clutter can drain your energy and become a stressor. It can decrease your effectiveness and performance. Clutter is anything you have that you don’t use or don’t take care of. When you reduce unnecessary “stuff”, you have less “stuff” to store, maintain, and pay for – creating space for freedom and productivity.
Objective: Participants will learn an easy plan to minimize clutter in order to live a richer, fuller life with less “stuff.” Recommended time: 1.5 hours

Domestic violence knows no boundary, be it race, color, sex, or income. Definitions, myths, and types of abuse will be covered. The focus will be on the signs and symptoms of the victim, as well as the abuser. Learn what to do and what not to do, if you work with a victim of domestic violence.
Objective: To become familiar with the signs and symptoms of domestic abuse and actions one can take to help an abusive situation. Recommended time: 1 hour

Did you know that over 1 in every 8 Americans aged 40 to 60 are both raising a child and caring for their aging parents? Learn more about this generation and how to support those you know in it, along with learning techniques if you are currently in this generation.
Objective: Develop an understanding of what the “sandwich” generation is and how to cope no matter what side of the generation you’re on. Recommended time: 1 hour

Lessons we are learning from current events is the critical nature of everyone’s voice. Inclusive work environments are productive environments! This seminar discusses how employees and managers can create an inclusive workplace.
Objective: Attendees will learn to identify activities, attitudes, and assumptions that exclude coworkers. Then they will explore ideas to include others in ways that enrich the office as well as their personal lives. Recommended time: 1 hour

How a person feels about himself or herself impacts the way he or she interacts with others. His or her performance at work and home can be enhanced by developing a positive self-concept.

There are many ways we impede our success, and many of them start in our minds. This program will discuss when to embrace impostor syndrome and when to overcome it; how to recognize and manage biases, limiting beliefs, and negativity; and what to do when perfectionism holds you back.
Objective: Learn how to get out of your own way and achieve your goals. Identify steps for managing impostor syndrome, describe how to shift your mindset for more success and productivity, and recognize when perfectionism is harming progress. Recommended time: 1 hour

Completing projects and tasks doesn’t have to be a battle. With neuroscience and research in mind, explore strategies for creating new habits, replenishing willpower, and boosting motivation. Knowing how to work with and not against yourself can make it easier.
Objective: Learn 3 techniques for starting new habits successfully, explain why willpower ebbs and flows and how to boost it, and describe 2 types of motivation and how to tap into it. Recommended time: 1 hour

The process of grief and loss impacts everyone, although everyone grieves differently.
Objective: To learn the stages of grief and the behaviors and emotions that may occur in each stage. Additionally, to learn strategies to help individuals and those around them take care of needs (both physical and emotional) during a time of loss. Recommended time: 1 hour

Healthy relationships can add richness to the quality of life. This training will focus on the ingredients essential for healthy relationships with oneself and others, as well as how relationships develop and grow. Areas covered will include assertiveness, self-esteem, positive self-talk, setting boundaries, and communication.
Objective: Learn the importance of and strategies for developing and maintaining healthy relationships. Recommended time: 1 hour

Family issues that cause stress in our everyday lives are compounded by the stress we experience elsewhere. Participants will be asked to identify family stressors, as well as workplace stress, and how those impact each other. Areas covered will include the indicators of stress (both physical and behavioral), time management and stress management techniques, communication skills, and conflict resolution.
Objective: Learn some exercises and strategies to use that will help alleviate family stress. Recommended time: 1 hour

Our daily joy can silently slip away until we notice our days seem dull and we have little enthusiasm. Becoming more engaged and joyful, both at home and at work, can be a simple process. Take the reins and make it happen! Learn how to improve your health and well-being by creating more peace, balance, and joy in your life.
Objective: During this interactive virtual presentation attendees will gain clarity on how to live with more joy and enjoy life more. We will cover the health benefits of joy; ways we diminish our joy; strategies for creating more joy. Recommended time: 1 hour

Pessimists believe that events will not only last a long time, but that they will ultimately undermine everything. Pessimistic individuals often feel helpless and may sink into depression, which is an epidemic today. Optimists, on the other hand, believe that defeat is a temporary setback or a challenge — it doesn’t knock them down.
Objective: This training will teach participants to develop a new set of cognitive skills that will enable them to take charge, challenge irrational assumptions, and accomplish more. Recommended time: 1 hour

Emotions are tiny bits of information that need to be processed, not stuffed away and ignored, nor allowed to run rampant. Managing your mood is crucial for emotional intelligence, improving communication, cultivating trust, creating healthy relationships, and succeeding at work and in life. This program will dig into anger, fear, happiness, sadness, grief, and anxiety and offer strategies for working with each.

This is an opportunity for all parents/caregivers to learn how to communicate what is going on in the world today. We all come in different shapes and sizes, and we have different backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities depending, in part, on where we come from—adoptive families, single-parent households, blended families, families with stay-at-home fathers, and same-sex households. The care and support family members offer to one another are essential to the developmental process and to the adequate functioning of children in today’s society.
Objective: Attendees will learn tips and skills to help them raise children that understand and respect the importance of diversity. Recommended time: 1 hour

Reacting to an event is good in an emergency but arises from unconscious, more primitive parts of the brain and can lead to regretting things we said or did if used in non-emergency situations. Responding, not reacting, is what most of us strive for because it allows space to make better decisions. This program will highlight simple techniques that allow you to pause and use higher brain centers in making a more thought-out response. Imagine how nice it will be to feel in control of your responses and avoid the regret of hurting someone.

The history of race-based trauma in the US dates back over 400 years and its impact is emotional, psychological, and physical.
Objective: This course answers questions about how to avoid it and, more importantly, how to move past it once it has occurred. Recommended time: 1 hour

Self-care is so much more than a manicure or massage. It is how we restore, replenish, and nurture ourselves. It involves tough aspects like saying no, setting boundaries, and assertive communication, as well as gentle restorative practices such as relaxation, laughter, and nourishing our soul.
Objective: Identify 3 benefits of practicing self-care and name 4 self-care techniques. Recommended time: 1 hour

Emotions can run the gamut during November and December. People deal with expectations, losses, memories associated with the holidays, financial concerns, and family issues. This training will allow each participant to reflect on his or her beliefs about the holidays, and the areas they want to change. The trainer will facilitate a group discussion about creative and healthy ways to thrive during the holiday season.

Adjusting to change is never easy, even when it happens every year! Falling back, springing ahead, or simply dealing with a season we don’t prefer, can disrupt our rhythm and stall our progress. Nature is often a metaphor for life so you’ll recognize some parallels as we all face transitions on our journeys.
Objective: This training will present a holistic approach to setting oneself up for success to prepare for the upcoming change, and strategies to avoid setbacks that might be lurking ahead. Recommended time: 1 hour

Often unrecognized, Compassion Fatigue costs the healthcare industry millions of dollars each year in stress, burnout, and turnover. This training is tailored to meet the needs of the specific caregiver group and may include other topics covered in this catalog.
Objective: Signs and Symptoms of compassion fatigue will be identified along with an introduction to coping skills. Recommended time: 2 hours

Given today’s current crisis situation we must start with our own self-awareness. Are we on top of our biases, or might we be harboring some prejudices that lie outside of our awareness? This program will define unconscious bias and give us a framework in which to understand it.
Objective: With numerous discussion opportunities, attendees will explore biases, examine the conflict that arises between one’s natural inclination to categorize and the conscious drive towards diversity, look at how unconscious bias is measured, and identify ways to overcome these biases. Social Security and Medicare will play a big part in your retirement years. This workshop provides basic information about Social Security benefits, Medicare and supplements, and prescription drug coverage. It will include information about determining eligibility, enrollment procedure, and help in understanding the options for supplemental coverage including Medigap policies or coverage under Medicare Advantage plans.
Objective: Attendees will learn when to enroll in Social Security and Medicare, and how to make supplemental coverage choices. Recommended time: 1-1.5 hours

This talk will discuss hidden diversity and why it’s important to speak up for yourself. We cannot see many diversities, such as invisible disabilities, chronic illness, or neurodiversity, in addition to life challenges people may be going through. In this talk, the audience will learn to disrupt their daily habits and challenge the common thought process of ignoring their own needs.
Objective: Attendees will learn common mistakes when self-advocating and how to shift their approach, so they can better connect to their teammates and coworkers, and feel empowered to contribute to the company in their own unique way. Recommended time: 1 hour
